There is nothing more bougie than having a good sheet mask on your person at all times.
Using a sheet mask is one of the ten steps of Korean skincare. Besides double cleansing, it’s skipped over way too often!
You’re missing out if you don’t have at least a couple on you. It’s great for your skin and your self-care. Nothing is more decadent than slipping on a sheet mask for fifteen minutes and taking a moment to breathe.
It’s the reset you didn’t know you needed for your skin and your mind.
But if that’s not enough to convince you, let’s get into why sheet masks are about to become your new favorite item.

What is a Sheet Mask?
In the shortest terms possible, it’s a mask in sheet form! It’s face-shaped with cut-outs for your eyes and nose. They’re typically made from cotton, but I’ve seen some that were made from bio-cellulose, and even foil. (Those aren’t as common.)
When you open a sheet mask packet, it’s soaking in serum.
There’s one for every skin woe you have. Dry skin? Sensitive skin? Aging skin? Oily skin? There’s a sheet mask for that.
Plus, it gives you time to relax and unwind after a long day.
So. Decadent.
You don’t have to do this step every day. But they’re gentle enough that you can if you want to.
If you’re looking for a refreshed, straight-from-the-spa appearance, use them for a week straight. I’ve noticed a huge difference from doing this. And it was something to look forward to at the end of a long day.
When Do You Use Sheet Masks?
When I first started using the Korean skincare method, I used them much more frequently. But when my skin started balancing out, I used them a lot less.
I use them more in the middle of the summer and the middle of winter. In the summer, I’m oily and some masks balance that out. In the winter, everything is dry and it’s the moisture boost my skin is craving.
But of course, there’s no wrong way to use a sheet mask and that’s what makes them great.
They’re gentle enough for everyday use. You really can’t overdo it by using them.
They’re convenient, portable, and relaxing. Plus, they’re amazing for selfies! They’re somehow equal parts decadent and goofy. I mean, no one looks cool wearing a sheet mask. But you’ll be glowing, and no one can take that from you.
Apply a mask after you put on your serums. It’s an extra boost and gives your products time to soak in before putting on your moisturizers for the day or night.
Are Sheet Masks Expensive?
This is where I believe a lot of people get hung up. It’s a one use product that seems frivolous to spend a lot of money on. At Sephora, I’ve seen them range from $5 to $10 PER mask! Does more mean that it’s better?
When it came to the quality, I felt very hit or miss about it. One lovely Christmas, I received a gracious amount of gift cards and bought a bunch of different masks from Sephora’s brand. I think I picked up seven of them. And out of all those, I only liked one. (The rose mask, in case you’re wondering.)
Now, if you have the budget for it, by all means. Buy them to your heart’s content! But in terms of quality, I don’t see much of a difference between a $5 mask and a $1 mask.
My max for sheet masks is $2.50 per mask unless they come from a company that blows me away. I can usually find them less than that and be perfectly happy with the results.
If you’re looking to try some sheet masks, but have no clue where to start, don’t worry. I got you!
Recommendations for Sheet Masks
Most recently, I bought a sheet mask pack from one of my favorite Korean brands, Elizavecca.
At the time of writing this, I bought these ten masks for less than $10. That’s less than $1 per mask and the quality is fantastic.
If the season’s shifting or you live in a drier climate you’re trying to help your skin out, Facetory has 23 masks that last for nearly a month.
A’pieu has these super cute ones that look like milk cartons! I’m a sucker for a good product with kawaii aesthetics. I used these during my time in Chicago and what a difference!
Of course, this wouldn’t be a recommendation list without mentioning CosRx at least once. I swear their snail mucin products work miracles. Getting it as a mask option? Uh, yes, please!
If you’re looking for the bougier option, I like this one from Too Cool For School. It’s one of the first sheets masks I tried and I was blown away by the results.
And lastly, if you’re going for gold, these masks will last you for a long time! One hundred masks. All for you. You’ll never need them ever again. Or you can be the Oprah of your friends, passing around sheet masks. (“You get a sheet mask! You get a sheet mask!”) Everyone wins!
